Fly-Over Feature New For 2015

A Look At The Year to Come

According to Leduc Golf Course club pro, James Whitton, 2015 looks to be an exciting year. The course has now been open for exactly one week and golfers are already playing on permanent greens, the programming schedule has been firmed up and everything appears to be coming together to create a terrific golf experience for visitors to the club.

Survived and Thrived Through Another Alberta Winter

There is a rumour around that Old Man Winter has it in for Alberta and often throws his  most tortuous temperatures at our province, which is hard on both flora and fauna. This is particularly true for the specialty grasses and other greenery the immaculately maintained course is so rightfully proud of. This year, however, having sent most of the bad weather to Eastern Canada, the Leduc Golf grounds are in excellent condition.

“The course weathered the winter really well,’ said Whitton. “We are even looking at May 1 for pulling the mats at the driving range and having players practise on the grass.”

Back By Popular Demand

Returning for 2015 are all the golf programs that have made the course a popular place for fun and fitness-minded folks from all over the region. This includes, among others, the Junior Camps, Men’s League and the Ladies’ League which is starting this evening. Still, it’s not too late to get in the action, according to Whitton. A call to the proshop can get you involved immediately.

A Look Ahead With Drone Technology

2015 marks the first year for a new initiative of the Leduc Club. By accessing the on-line scorecard on the course’s website on their smart-phone as they play, golfers can get a video “fly-over” of the hole that is before them, to ensure they are aiming for the optimal position during their drive.

“So far the feedback on the fly-over option has been very positive,” revealed Whitton. “A bunch of people have tried it already and they have all been excited to get a video of what challenges lay in wait for them. It’s a real asset for those who are new to the course to see what lies ahead.”
